Oktoberfest Yucatán returns to Mérida for three days on October 9, 10 and 11, 2026, bringing German food, beer, live music, traditional dancing and family activities to the Unidad Deportiva Rogers Hall.
This is a proper ticketed festival rather than simply a beer event at a restaurant. Expect long communal tables, food stalls, German and Mexican beer, live entertainment and a crowd that ranges from families arriving in the afternoon to groups staying late into the evening.
The useful thing to know before you go is that Rogers Hall is on Mérida's northern Periférico rather than in Centro. A taxi or ride-hailing app is therefore the easiest option for most visitors, especially if you plan to drink.

Friday works particularly well if you are already staying in Mérida and want an evening plan. Arriving during the late afternoon gives you time to eat before the busier nighttime atmosphere develops.

Saturday gives you the longest possible visit and will probably be the natural choice for visitors who want the full festival atmosphere.
It is also the day when we would allow the most time for traffic, entry and finding a table.

Sunday is the easiest choice for many families. You can arrive around lunch, spend several hours at the festival and leave before it becomes a late night.
If your main interest is the food and cultural side rather than drinking into the evening, Sunday is likely to be the most comfortable option.

Children aged five and older require a ticket.

The full vendor-by-vendor 2026 menu has not yet been published, so it is worth separating confirmed information from what has appeared at previous editions.
Past Oktoberfest Yucatán events have featured the sort of food you would expect at a German festival, including:

What about the beer?
Beer remains a major part of Oktoberfest, with the organizers confirming a range of international and Mexican beers for 2026.

If you do drink, using Uber, DiDi, a taxi or another ride service makes substantially more sense than bringing a car. The organizers themselves are encouraging this approach for 2026.
There are also water, soft drinks and other non-alcoholic drinks, so you do not need to drink alcohol to make the festival worthwhile.
Alcohol cannot be sold or supplied to minors, and staff may ask for official identification when age needs to be verified.

Is Oktoberfest Yucatán good for families?
Yes.
Despite the obvious association with beer, the Mérida event is deliberately designed as a family festival.
There will be a children's play area, general entertainment and activities suitable for different ages. Minors can attend when accompanied by a responsible adult.
The venue also has access for wheelchair users and families with strollers.
For families with younger children, we would favour Sunday lunchtime or early afternoon. You still get the food, music and festival setting without needing to navigate the late-evening crowds.

Which day should you choose?
Go Friday if...
You want an evening event after spending the day elsewhere in Mérida.
Friday is also useful for travelers arriving in the city that day because the festival does not begin until 2:00 p.m.
Go Saturday if...
Oktoberfest is one of the main events of your weekend.
You get thirteen hours of festival time and can choose between a relaxed afternoon visit or a later evening.
Expect Saturday to be the day when planning your transport matters most.
Go Sunday if...
You are visiting with children, prefer a daytime atmosphere or have another evening plan in Mérida.
The 8:00 p.m. closing time makes Sunday substantially easier to combine with the rest of a trip.
Where is Oktoberfest Yucatán?
The festival takes place at:

This is not in Mérida Centro.
If you are staying around Plaza Grande, Santa Lucía, Paseo de Montejo or Santiago, expect to travel north across the city and onto the Periférico.
In ordinary traffic, the journey from central Mérida is roughly the sort of trip for which you should allow 20–30 minutes by car, with more time sensible around busy festival arrival and departure periods.
The easiest way to get there
For most travelers, use a taxi or ride-hailing app.
The festival has confirmed a designated area for taxi and platform pickups and drop-offs, with preferential access intended to simplify arrivals.
That removes several problems at once:
- you do not need to find parking
- nobody in your group needs to drive after drinking
- you avoid leaving a rental car in a busy festival car park
- getting back to Centro is straightforward
One useful precaution is to order your return ride before walking away from the official pickup area, particularly late on Friday or Saturday.
There is no free festival Wi-Fi, so make sure you have mobile data and enough battery to request your ride home.
Can you drive?
Yes.
The venue will have parking for festival visitors, but the organizers say capacity is limited.
Driving makes more sense if you are attending as a family, arriving early and not planning to drink.
It makes less sense for a group heading to the festival specifically for the beer.
If you do drive, arrive earlier rather than trying to enter the parking area during the busiest part of Saturday evening.

Should you take a rental car?
Not specifically for Oktoberfest.
A rental car is useful for a wider Yucatán trip, but this particular event is easier without one.
If you already have a car because you have been visiting places outside Mérida, you can drive to Rogers Hall. Otherwise, paying for a ride from your hotel is considerably simpler than renting a vehicle for the festival.
Save the rental car for cenotes, haciendas, archaeological sites and towns where having your own transport makes a genuine difference.
Paying for food and drinks
Most exhibitors are expected to accept credit cards, debit cards or electronic payment.
However, the organizers recommend also carrying some cash.
That is sensible advice.
There will be no ATM inside the festival, so do not arrive relying on being able to withdraw pesos once you have entered.
A combination of card plus a modest amount of cash is the easiest setup.
Can you bring your own food or drinks?
No.
Outside food and drinks are not permitted.
That includes drinks you may have bought for the journey to the event.
Water, soft drinks, non-alcoholic options and food will all be available inside.
Vegetarian options are also confirmed.
Can you bring a pet?
No.
Oktoberfest Yucatán is not pet friendly, largely because of the food service, crowds and noise.
Properly identified assistance dogs are the exception.
If you are traveling with a pet, this is one evening when arranging care at your accommodation is the easier option.

And because this is October in Mérida, do not assume Germany's autumn climate has followed Oktoberfest across the Atlantic. Afternoon conditions can still be hot and humid.

What should you combine it with?
Oktoberfest works best as an afternoon or evening addition to a Mérida day, rather than something around which you need to build your entire trip.
If you attend on Friday evening, spend the morning and early afternoon exploring Centro before heading north.
On Saturday, either make Oktoberfest the main event or keep the morning simple. Trying to combine a full Chichén Itzá or Uxmal day trip with a late night at the festival can turn into a very long day.
Sunday works particularly well after a slow morning in Mérida.
October is also the beginning of one of the most culturally interesting periods of the year in Yucatán. Later in the month, Mérida moves into Hanal Pixán and the Festival de las Ánimas, so travelers staying longer can experience two very different sides of the city's annual calendar.
Is Oktoberfest Yucatán worth going to?
It is worth considering if you are already in Mérida that weekend and enjoy food festivals, live music, beer or community events.
It also offers something quite different from the archaeological sites, cenotes and colonial towns that tend to dominate a Yucatán itinerary.
You do not need to dedicate a full day to it.
For most visitors, three to five hours is plenty: arrive, find food, try a couple of drinks, watch some live entertainment and leave before the journey home becomes difficult.
Families may prefer two or three hours during the afternoon. Groups of adults can easily make an evening of it.
This is not the event we would rearrange an entire Yucatán trip around if your dates do not naturally match. But if you will already be in Mérida between October 9 and 11, 2026, it is one of the more distinctive local events happening that weekend.
